V. Dolphin produces a soft and rhythmic electronic music, a fragile and filtered voice, whispered, 
emanating from an aquatic world sometimes dark, sometimes intriguing, always beautiful and ethereal.
STORY :After a first release&#38;nbsp;Blue in 2014 on the London label specialized in dream music and vaporwave Dream Catalogue,

 V. Dolphin releases his second LP in the late 2015 Ocean Songs on the very DIY pop label AB Records

After the release of his second album, V. Dolphin take the habit of releasing one cover a week, every Sunday.&#38;nbsp;

Which leads him to gather all these covers under a free mini album called 
Sunday Covers released in June 2016 on AB Records 

Two years later and after a few concerts, he releases his third and new album "LIQUID" in
 June 2018.This time on vinyl and with his own label Oceaan Records still supported by AB Records and Winslow Records

Vince Dolphin produit une musique éléctronique douce et rythmée, 
une voix fragile et filtrée, susurrée, émanant d’un monde aquatique tantôt sombre, tantôt intriguant, toujours beau et éthéré.

Après la sortie de son deuxième album, Vince Dolphin a pris l’habitude de sortir une reprise par semaine,&#38;nbsp;chaque dimanche.
Cet exercice le conduit à regrouper toutes ces covers sous un mini album gratuit Sunday Covers sortit chez AB Records en Juin 2016.

Sábanas is one of the many music projects of Daniel. Based in Barcelona, he started his own label Jeanne d’Arc Records with a friend.He kindly accepted a small chat to get to know each other better.


Vince Dolphin:

I first discovered you on Soundcloud 
with your Daniel Daniel project. Is your name really Daniel?


Sábanas:Yes haha


Vince Dolphin:

You released a first cassette on the Jeanne d’Arc Records Barcelona label. How did it come to be?


Sábanas:

I started Jeanne d’Arc Records with a friend this year 
and so we naturally thought about my personal project 
Daniel Daniel for the first release.


Vince Dolphin:

You Currently live in Barcelona but you have told me 
that you lived in Lyon (fr) for a little while before?What brought you to Barcelona?


Sábanas:

I wanted to go back to Spain. 
I had some friends who were up to sharing a flat in Barcelona and I really wanted to be by the sea 


Vince Dolphin:It is a wonderful perk  And the city itself is charming.Some people says that the surroundings one lives in can have a rather large impact, how do you think Barcelona influences your work?


Sábanas:
I think it's mostly the people around me that influence me,
 and to a lesser extent the city as well but it's mostly the people.


Vince Dolphin:

Is there a specific vibe there?


Sábanas:

Barcelona is a city with a lot of movement, politicaly and culturaly speaking. 
Sometimes I think it’s a little too noisy, but i can deal with it haha. 
There is more life in the street than in Lyon for example, I mean, the good weather helps a lot.


Vince Dolphin:

Beside Daniel Daniel you have another project. A more "ambient" one in which you do not sing, called Sábanas.How would you describe this project?


Sábanas:

In fact "Sábanas" means bed sheets in Spanish. 

I pictured myself making quiet music, ambient, in a place full of bed sheets ... a laid back thing 


Vince Dolphin:

It's very sweet actually. You started Sábanas after Daniel Daniel is that right?


Sábanas:

Yes, I wanted to make other sounds under another name


Vince Dolphin:

On Daniel Daniel's SC, in the one of the first tracks, 
I heard a feminine voice.It has not always been a solo project then?


Sábanas:

Actually I did a duet project with my girlfriend where she was singing. We were called BLAU.After that, i started doing things alone. I just changed the name on SC

I didn’t want to put titles,&#38;nbsp;
 I thought about an emoji about nature, animals .. 
and yes 🌲express the forest in a mountain A short hike in the forest

They are my friends 


Vince Dolphin:It's beautiful. I can easily picture it when i close my eyes.

For you, what is the most important thing you would like to convey through your music?


Sábanas:

Hmm I do not know

Love toward things?I don’t know haha


Vince Dolphin:If you had to choose one emotion, one feeling, 
would it be love then?


Sábanas:Yes, and peacefullness.


Vince Dolphin:

Peacefullness and the love of nature?


Sábanas:

That's definitely the case with the last tracks. 
Maybe it's because I live in a city 
but I miss nature and I make these tracks.


Vince Dolphin:

Did you grow up close to nature?


Sábanas:

I grew up in a rather small city near the sea.


Vince Dolphin:
I’ve a small technical question, what type of set up do you use to compose your titles? What is your configuration?


Sábanas: I use a yamaha reface dx and effects on ableton

Vince Dolphin: Ok it's pretty simple, just a few instruments

Is it a conscious statement?


Sábanas: 

It's voluntary, I wanted to put a kind of limit with this project, otherwise with all the plugins on Ableton 
i can never decide haha&#38;nbsp;


Vince Dolphin:

It's crazy to think that with all these possibilities, we still need limits to create. In fact, it is probably those limits that create a style.
For you ,is there a difference between what you do on stage and in the studio ?

Or maybe, you feel you're on stage just as in your room?


Sábanas: 

No, I prefer to be in my room, I can control myself. 
Even with the sound, in fact I do not like doing concerts,

I can’t be quiet, but in my room i can.

I would like to do concerts at home :)


Vince Dolphin:

It's a good idea. Just like you were a restaurant :&#38;nbsp;
you call and make a reservation and then you come to see the artist playing at home.
When you compose, what part do you prefer to start with ? 

Drums, bass, melody, vocals, sound effects?

Or do you proceed randomly &#38;nbsp; ?


Sábanas: 

I do not start with anything predetermined, sometimes I start with the batteries sometime melodies, it depends on the moment

Vince Dolphin: 

Do you have other artistic activities besides music?


Sábanas: 

mmm not really, publishing with Jeanne d’Arc Records


Vince Dolphin: 

Music publishing, like a label?


Sábanas: 

yes. It's an artistic activity, right? haha


Vince Dolphin: 

Yes you have to be creative to find money ahah.

Are you a pro musician? How did you get into music?


Sábanas: 

I did some piano and guitar lessons when I was little, the basics


Vince Dolphin:

Correct me if I'm wrong but, you do not use a guitar in your tracks. Is that on purpose ?


Sábanas: 

With Daniel Daniel, I used more, but the synth sounds are too good, I love it&#38;nbsp;


Vince Dolphin:

I admit that I have a special attraction for tracks without guitar, 

For example CSS does not use guitar and I find it pretty cool, I don’t know why.


Sábanas: Because synthetic music is very beautiful :)


Vince Dolphin:Totally agree.

Apart from the project "blue invitation" that I proposed. 

Do you have anything going on?


Sábanas:

I started some projects with people: one with a Daniel Daniel style (synthpop) and another a little more reggaeton but still pop


Vince Dolphin: Bands, not solo ?


Sábanas: 

yes, one internet and the other in real life


Vince Dolphin:

Many artists do not like using a computer, especially on stage, what do you think?


Sábanas:

yes, I understand them, in the end a computer is not a real instrument, it's just virtual.

I would like to do concerts without a computer, but I wouldn’t know how to do without it haha


Vince Dolphin:

It's true, it's a bit ugly to see a guy in front of his computer like he‘s’ in a coworking place aha. 
Yet at the same time, I also like it because it remains hyper synthetic and futuristic on stage.


Sábanas:

Without the computer you also give yourself some limits

BIO :After a first release Blue in 2014 on the London label specialized in dream music and vaporwave Dream Catalogue, Vince Dolphin releases his second LP in the late 2015 Ocean Songs on the very DIY pop label AB RecordsAfter the release of his second album, Vince Dolphin take the habit of releasing one cover a week, every Sunday. Which leads him to gather all these covers under a free mini album called 
Sunday Covers released in June 2016 on AB Records Two years later and after a few concerts, he releases his third and new album "LIQUID" in

Sábanas est un des nombreux projets de Daniel, basé à Barcelone, 
il vient de créer son label Jeanne d’Arc Records avec une amie.
Dans quelques semaine il va sortir sa “blue invitation” chez Oceaan Records,il a accepté une petite interview afin de mieux se connaître.


Vince Dolphin :
Je t’ai connu d’abord sur Soundcloud avec ton projet Daniel Daniel. 
Alors première question, tu t'appelles vraiment Daniel ?

Sábanas :
oui haha

Vince Dolphin :
Tu as sorti une premiere cassette 
sur le label Barcelonais Jeanne D’arc Records, comment ça s’est fait ?

Sábanas :
bah en fait Jeanne d'Arc Records est un label que j'ai commencé avec une amie cette année et 
donc on avait pensé à Daniel Daniel pour la premiere sortie.

Vince Dolphin :
Ah cool !
Actuellement tu vis à Barcelone mais tu m’as dit que tu as vécu un peu a Lyon avant ? 
Comment est tu arrivé à Barcelone ?
Sábanas :
J’avais envie de retourner en Espagne, j'avais quelques amis a Barcelone pour faire une colloc et en plus il y a la mer:)

Vince Dolphin :
Oui c'est un avantage certain :) La ville est belle.Il parait que notre environnement nous influence, en quoi penses tu que cette ville peut influencer ton travail ?

Sábanas :
je crois que c'est surtout les gens qui m'entourent qui m'influencent
la ville aussi, c'est sûr, mais plutôt les gens
Vince Dolphin :
il y a une energie particuliere là bas ?

Sábanas :
il y a une energie differente qu'a lyon par exemple, la langue ça change beaucoup

Vince Dolphin :
Et effectivement tu chantes aussi en espagnol avec ton projet Daniel Daniel.Parallèlement, tu as un autre projet plus « ambiant » où tu ne chantes pas, qui s’appelle Sábanas, 
comment décrirais tu ce projet ?

Sábanas :
En fait "Sábanas" veut dire “draps” en espagnol. 
Je m'etais imaginé faire de la musique tranquille, ambiant, dans un lieu plein de draps... un truc relax :)

Vince Dolphin :
C'est très doux effectivement.Tu as commencé Sábanas apres Daniel Daniel c'est bien ça ?

Sábanas :
Oui, j'avais envie de faire d'autres sons sous un autre nom

Vince Dolphin :
Sur le SC de Daniel Daniel dans les premières postées, j'ai entendu une voix feminine. 
Cela n'a pas toujours été un projet solo ?

Sábanas :
Non, en fait je voulais faire un duo avec ma copine (elle qui chantait). BLAU on s'appellait. apres j’ai commencé à faire des trucs tout seul. J’ai juste changé le nom sur SC.
Vince Dolphin :
aha ok. Revenons à Sábanas, c'est assez mysterieux comme projet, tu illustres chaque track par un emoticon de la nature, peux tu nous expliquer un peu, j’imagine que la chanson avec un emoji en forme de sapin exprime la foret ou les arbres en général ?
Sábanas :
En fait je ne voulais pas mettre de titres, et j'ai pensé aux emoticon de la nature, des animaux.. et oui cet emoji
exprime la foret, mais dans une montagne:)une petite randonnée dans la foret

oui, c'est mes amis:)

c'est beau on s'imagine tres facilement en fermant les yeux
Pour toi, Quelle est la chose la plus importante que tu aimerais faire passer à travers ta musique ?
Sábanas :
euh, je sais pas
de l'amour vers les choses?
je sais pas haha
Vince Dolphin :
si tu devais choisir une émotion, un sentiment ce serait l’amour alors ?

Sábanas :
oui, et la tranquilité

Vince Dolphin :
la tranquilité et l'amour de la nature ?

Sábanas :
oui avec les derniers morceaux oui
c'est peut etre le fait que j'habite dans une ville, la nature me manque et je fais ces morceaux
Vince Dolphin :
Tu as grandi proche de la nature ?

Sábanas :
j'ai grandi dans une ville pas trop grande pres de la mer, on pourrait dire que oui

Vince Dolphin :
j'ai vu que tu étais amis facebook avec lescréateurs du label AB Records, tu les connais ?

Sábanas :
oui, j'adore ce qu'ils font, premier fan!! je les connais un peu de concerts, personnes tres belles :)

Vince Dolphin :
oui ils sont trop mignons :)
Tu as fait quelques concerts à Lyon ?
Sábanas :
oui, 5 :)

Vince Dolphin :

Je te découvre à peine, meme si ça fait un moment que j'écoute en boucle tes tracks. 
C'est pour ça que je t'ai demandé si tu voulais bien participer à ce label Oceaan Records. 
Donc dans le cadre du projet nommé "Blue invitation" tu es invité à produire 4 tracks en rapport avec l'ocean, Qu'est ce que cela t'as inspiré ?

Sábanas :j'adore l'idéeee!!! j'ai déjà pensé a un truc. 4 sons qui raconte l'histoire d'une baleine maman et sonfils:)
Vince Dolphin :
aha parfait !
Question technique, Quel type de materiel utilises tu pour composer tes titres ? &#38;nbsp;Quelle est ta configuration ?
Sábanas :yamaha reface dx + effets sur ableton
Vince Dolphin :ok c'est assez simple
peu d'instruments
c'est une volonté artistique ?
Sábanas :oui, c'est volontaire, j'avais envie de mettre une espece de limite avec ce projet, sinon avec les plugins sur ableton j'arrive jamais a me decider hah
Vince Dolphin :
C'est fou de penser qu’avec toutes ces possibilités, on a besoin de limites pour créer.Au fond c'est surement ces limites qui créent le style.
Y a t il une difference entre la scène et le studio pour toi question materiel ?
ou en gros, tu es sur scene comme dans ta chambre ?

Sábanas :Non, je prefere etre dans ma chambre, je peut controler moi meme le son, en fait j'aime pas trop faire les concerts,
j'arrive pas à etre tranquille, dans ma chambre oui
j'aimerais bien faire des concerts a la maison :)
Vince Dolphin :
C’est une bonne idée. Comme si les artistes seraient des restaurants, tu reserves et tu viens les voir jouer chez eux
Quand tu composes, par quelle partie préfères tu commencer en général, batterie, basse, mélodie, voix, bruitages ?
ou alors tu procède autrement ?
Sábanas :je fais pas de truc prédéterminé, dès fois je commence par les batteries dàs fois melodies, ça depend du moment
Vince Dolphin :Au feeling
Sábanas :
oui c’est ça
Vince Dolphin :Est ce que tu as d’autres activités artistiques en dehors de la musique ?
Sábanas :mmm non, Jeanne d'Arc Records avec l'edition
Vince Dolphin :l'edition ? en tant que label ?
Sábanas :oui. C’est une activité artistique, non? ahah
Vince Dolphin :oui ça a un lien evident mais je ne sais pas si on peut dire que c'est créatif d'un point de vue artistique. 
Es tu musicien de formation ? Comment as tu commencé la musique ?
Sábanas :j'ai fait quelques cours de piano et guitare quand j'etais petit, les bases
Vince Dolphin :
Corrige moi si je me trompe mais, tu n'utilises pas de guitare dans tes morceaux, est ce une volonté ?

Sábanas :Avec daniel daniel j'utilisais plus avant, mais les sons synthetiques sont trop biens, j'adore&#38;lt;3
Vince Dolphin :
j'avoue que j'ai une attirance particuliere pour les tracks sans guitare, Par exemple le groupe CSS n'utilise pas de guitare volontairement et je trouve ça assez cool, je sais pas pourquoi.
Sábanas :parce que la musique synthetique est tres belle:)
Vince Dolphin :
parfaitement d'accord
mise à part le projet "blue invitation" que je t'ai proposé. Tu as des trucs en cours ?
Sábanas :
j'ai commencé quelques projets avec des gens: un du style de danieldaniel synthpop et autre un peu plus reggaeton en restant dans le pop

Vince Dolphin :des groupes, pas en solo du coup ?
Sábanas :oui, un par internet et l'autre dans la vie reelle
Vince Dolphin :En parlant d’internet, beaucoup d’artistes dans la musique n’aiment pas utiliser un ordinateur, notamment sur scene, qu’en penses-tu ?


Sábanas :
oui, je les comprends, l'ordinateur a la fin c'est pas un truc réel, c'est juste du virtuel
j'aimerais bien faire les concerts sans l'ordi, mais j'ai sais pas comment les faire sans haha
Vince Dolphin :
oui pareil, c'est vrai que visuellement c'est un peu moche de voir un mec devant son ordi comme dans un cyber café aha. Mais à la fois j'aime aussi que ca reste hyper synthétique futuriste

Sábanas :
oui, sans l'ordi tu te donnes aussi des limites
